My time here...

With a heart for the poor and desire to do the will of God, I came to Beautiful Kidz with an open mind and little expectations other than desiring to serve Jesus.  Prior to arriving in Namibia, I considered my role as a volunteer at Beautiful Kidz and the opportunities for service that God would provide while I was there for three months; I never expected however, to be blessed above all others through my experience. 

During my entire stay in Namibia, God revealed his compassion and overall wonder in several ways, helping me to develop a more deeply-rooted relationship with Him.  The joy and playfulness of the Beautiful Kidz preschoolers and youth, the love and reception of the Katutura community, the accountability and family-oriented structure of YWAM, the beauty of Africa and the countless opportunities to pursue and serve Jesus throughout each day are just a few glimpses of how God is providing for volunteers at Beautiful Kidz. 

In fact, I believe that my time in Africa has and will continue to extend further than my mere three month stay at Beautiful Kidz; I was impacted in such a deep and meaningful way that my perspective and lifestyle will be forever changed because of the work God developed in me during that time.

Transportation         

Transport is available from the airport to the Ywam Base, from the Ywam Base to Beautiful Kidz and to the City on request.

Food is included in the daily rate.

Is Beautiful Kidz the same organisation as Beautiful Gate?

What would my daily responsiblities be?

You would be helping with the everday running of the Beautiful Kidz centre, from helping cook the meals for the children to cleaning and helping with their play times. You would also help with the Youth programs including, home work classes and Youth Clubs and Youth evenings during the week.

Would I get any time off?

Most weekends you are free to go into town and church. You will also be given a week where you will be able to travel around the country or to South Africa.

Where would I be staying?

You will be living on the YWAM base which is 15km from the Beautiful Kidz centre and town. You will have access to a washing machine and a pay phone. No private arrangements will be accepted. The premises are protected with an alarm system.

Do I need to bring all my toiletries?

No, you will be able to buy everything in the shops including converters for your hairdryer or mobile phone.

Will there be access to the internet?

There is no access at the YWAM base but there are Internet cafe's in town where you will go on Saturdays.

Can I bring gifts for the children?

We ask that you do not bring gifts but if you would like to give something rather bring the money and then fulfull a need that you see here.

Are my evenings free?

You will be expected to attend one meeting per week in the evening. This is where staff and volunteer workers come together for spiritual input.

How much will a visa cost and do I need one for three months?

A visa will cost N$390 and you will pay this back to us once you have arrived. Yes you will need a visa for the three months that you will be volunteering here at Beautiful Kidz, the reason is the government sees this volunteering as work, so in order for you not to be deported we will apply for your work visa for three months.

Can I do my internship at Beautiful Kidz Namibia?

We unfortunately do not accept volunteers who want to complete their intership for their stuidies here at Beautiful Kidz Namibia.

1.  Staff / Volunteer Application FormThis form must be completed when you are applying as staff/volunteer at Beautiful Kidz Namibia.

If there isn't sufficient space on the application form, please answer these questions on a separate sheet of paper.

 2.  Reference Forms

Please fill in your name on each of the three Confidential Reference Forms. Hand one to your pastor/minister, one to your most recent school leader or supervisor of YWAM and the other one to who knows you well e.g. employer, teacher, friend (not family). Ask them to complete the form and e-mail or post it directly to Beautiful Kidz Namibia. We must receive ALL of the reference forms BEFORE we will process your application.

If you have never been involved with YWAM please ask somebody else from your church to fill in one of the forms.

 3. Financial Form

Please read carefully, complete and sign the Financial Form. Please note that signing this form commits you to payment of the fees as set out in the Financial Form.

 4.  Indemnity Form

Please read carefully, complete and sign the Indemnity Form.

 5.  Medical Form

Please read carefully, complete and sign the Medical Form.

 6.  Passport

You will need a passport valid for at least 6 months after your planned departure from Namibia.

7.  Visa

It can take between two weeks to one month to obtain Visa's.  Please complete your forms as soon as possible, so that we can start the application process here in Namibia. You can download the visa forms from our web site. Please also send copy of the page in your passport with your picture and information on. Please only download the visa forms once you have been notified that you have been accepted to volunteer.

 8. Injections      

Make sure you get all the injections mentioned in the medical form. This will also take a couple of weeks.
